I think pottery could perhaps be described as a voyage of discovery. The magic of throwing first seduced me many years ago, and still does to this day. The joy of creating pots far outweighs any daily stresses I face.
My children are the inspiration for many of my pieces. Certainly a major theme in my work is the challenge of balancing children, family and art making. I am also inspired by nature, seedpods, stones, bark and plants, all have a bearing on my work. Perhaps my work is the sum total of my daily life experiences
My pots are an eclectic mix of bright, outrageous and colourful sculptures to highly decorated vessels with pigment and overglaze brushwork. In these two fields I have found my 'niche'.
I feel I still have a long way to go and much to learn, but this is one of the great challenges of making pots and creativity in general.
